The Optical Express Summer Academy (OESA) is a great way to see whether Optical Express is the right career choice for you and to gain valuable experience of working in Opticians. We use our Summer Academy as a recruiting ground for our Pre Reg Positions, as we find that it is a more effective way of choosing the right candidate than traditional interviewing.
The OESA programme starts on July 3rd 2012 with a one day induction based at our Global HQ in Glasgow. You will then return to complete a 6 week placement in stores across the UK. You will undertake a series of work based tasks aimed at giving you a broad introduction of working for Optical Express. These tasks are also designed to increase your awareness of and aptitude for the clinical and commercial requirements of optometric practice.
In 2010 we recruited about 80% of the 2010 OESA programme to the 2011 Pre Reg Programme.
The 6 week programme is salaried and you will be employed on a fixed term contract. You must be available to start on July 3rd accommodation and travel to Glasgow will be arranged by Optical Express.
The closing date for applications to OESA 2011 is December 31st. Interviews will be carried out during February and March (see interview Tips and Hints). The successful students will receive their offers towards the end of April.
